A different look (part II)

Haven’t been around much recently. I had to take a step back for a little while. As it stands, my blog is not what I originally envisioned. I really had to change my perspective in order to continue.

So, what has changed?

Over 200,000 page views. Thanks.

Didn’t really plan on posting an entry today but I just noticed now this site has over 200,000 total page views!

Thanks for your continued visits and support. :-)

A different look (part I)

Received an email request for a larger font size when posting comments because the small lettering can be hard to read. I have two options:

  1. Buy an upgrade and tinker around with the site.
  2. Change the whole theme.

Guess which one I’m picking? :-)

Cutting off a toe to save a foot

Several members of my family have experienced the difficult decision of giving up a part of themselves to save themselves. For some, it involved an amputation resulting from diabetic neuropathy and one member of my family required radical surgery for breast cancer.

What does all of that mean in terms of this site?

Problems posting comments on my fibroid blog?

I’m actually having problems adding comments to my own blog. After repeatedly submitting them, the comments disappear into some weird blogging “black hole” only to reappear several hours later labeled as spam. My blog considers my comments junk but I’m not taking it personally. Started noticing this phenomenon recently. Seems to be a temporary WordPress.com glitch so I’m not too concerned.

I do apologize if you are experiencing some difficulty posting comments.

Let me know so I can do what I can to help! 8-)

The Mission Statement of my fibroid blog (a study in evolution)

In the process of updating the site, I’ve come up with a working (in flux) Mission Statement that I will add to various pages. The blog requires one so that what I’m trying to accomplish here will be clearer.

Muffin Top after abdominal surgery? What’s a muffin top and how do I just make it go away?

Want to see a muffin top?Noticing some talk on the post-Abdominal Myomectomy recovery forum about the “muffin top” phenomenon. Actually, I’ve heard women who’ve had C-sections can also get muffin tops so perhaps we’ll get non-AM visitors as well.

I’m going to include a link to the New York Daily News – Daily Dish & Gossip page plus a quote from their story:

A big apology to those who come here seeking help…

I have been very busy for the past few weeks trying to get things under control here. I’m also making some changes around the site that will hopefully improve the navigation. Things WILL get better. You can best believe that.

Please know that I pledge to do all in my power to help those who need assistance and guidance even if that means losing some of my traffic here in the process. I started this blog with that in mind and I’ll continue with that mission.

Once again, I am truly sorry for not responding to comments as quickly as I would like. If you have an urgent need, please do not hesitate in sending me an email.

Best wishes everyone!

I did NOT create my fibroid blog to make friends

Yeah, that’s the other thing that is bothering me. I don’t consider any of you my “friends”. I didn’t originally create my blog to be a “social” place. I just wanted to get the information out (science, latest research, etc.). I’m happy that a number of you find support here but it’s really getting out of hand. I’m not going to tolerate it any longer.

My fibroid blog is NOT your personal chat room

I’m sorry that you have completely missed the purpose of my blog. Perhaps I should spell it out more clearly on the Home page. I’ll go do that right after I post this and something else that is bothering me.

My fibroid blog is an active experiment in real time!

Spent much of the day making changes to the site that will (hopefully!) make it easier to find stuff. This is my blog (an active experiment). It’s a mixture of personal journal, science-based resource, and support forum. I’m really stretching the definition of a blog (square peg in a round hole and all) but I’m enjoying every minute. Here are today’s changes:

EclecticGeek, why do you keep asking us to visit the Fibroid Forum?

Yes, there’s a Fibroid Forum here! I really want you to visit it more. Why? Two reasons. Well, probably more than that but let’s focus on these two: Read the rest of this entry »
